Cap Torque Testers

Spring Cap Torque Tester

The Spring Torque Tester is designed to control cap tightness – an essential factor – in bottling operations:

  • When caps are not applied tightly enough, leakage or evaporation of product may occur.

  • When caps are applied too tightly, molded closures may be susceptible to breakage, or the caps may be difficult to remove.

Spring Torque Testers are available in two different models:

  • The MR model has an indicator on the removal side only.

  • The MRA model has indicators on both the removal and application sides.

Both the MR and MRA models are available in the following standard ranges:

  • 0-25 inch lbs., which reads in 1 inch lb. increments

  • 0-50 inch lbs., which reads in 2 inch lb. increments

  • 0-100 inch lbs., which reads in 5 inch lb. increments

  • 0-150 inch lbs., which reads in 10 inch lb. increments

Special order ranges are available:

  • 0-2 inch lbs., which reads in 0.1 inch lb. increments

  • 0-5 inch lbs., which reads in 0.2 inch lb. increments

  • 0-10 inch lbs., which reads in 0.5 inch lb. increments

The Spring Torque Testers have an accuracy of ±4% of full scale or reading.

Spring Torque Testers are shipped approximately one to two weeks after receipt of firm order. We ship standard UPS unless otherwise specified by customer. The Spring Torque Tester is shipped double-wrapped and double-boxed for maximum protection.

Cap torque tester

For an up charge, we can furnish these testers with a Teflon finish on all exposed metal parts. This provides a hard, wear-resistant, anti-stick, permanently lubricated surface that will resist chipping, cracking, flaking, and peeling. This Teflon coating will protect the tester from damage by most chemicals, ingredients, and solvents.

We sell calibration kits , or we calibrate or repair testers when they are shipped to us.

 

Digital Cap Torque Tester

The Digital Torque Tester makes control of closure tightness easier and more reliable than ever before. The Digital Torque Tester is one step above the Spring Torque Tester, which has been setting the industry standard for years.

The Digital Cap Torque Tester:

  • Covers the entire testing range of cap sizes operating from 0-100 inch lbs. for both removal and application.

  • Reads in 0.1 inch lb. increments.

  • Has an accuracy of ±2% of full scale or reading.

  • Holds the peak reading for approximately 30 seconds, so that readings can be recorded manually.

  • Operates on either 110 V using a step-down transformer with 9 V output or a 9 V alkaline battery for use in remote or laboratory locations.

The digital cap tester has the option of being linked to your RS232 computer or printer by a serial cable. This is an upgrade, additional charges will apply.

 

Cap Torque Tester A

This cap torque tester offers programmable high/low set points for go/no-go testing. ORANGE lights up for measurements less than Low set point, GREEN for between High and Low set point, and RED for over High set point.

Store up to 960 values in memory, which can be transmitted using the serial output. Use the real time mode to display torque transients, or peak mode to capture the peak torque achieved during a test. Selectable measuring units of lbf-in, kgf-cm, or N-cm.

Cap testers include AC adapter/charger and built-in NiCad rechargeable batteries, 1" high standard pegs (optional long pegs available). A calibration kit is also available.
